Angelle

DOB:  1/22/08

Female

The limping cat made her way across the fields to a place she hoped was safe. The weather was getting colder and she needed cover.

The family's elderly indoor/outdoor cat had died recently, but her smell was still evident. The newcomer stayed out-of-sight, carefully watching the family and the dog. Should she trust them? Her last encounter with humans hurt a lot and left her limping.

The young girl saw her first. She bent over and extended her hand. Some food was left out in a dish. Water, too. Angelle waited for them to go inside. After eating she began the ritual cleaning of her shoulder wound.

An X-ray revealed bone fragments where the top of her humerus had broken as the bullet hit her shoulder. The bone had healed out of alignment , leaving her with a limp.

Angelle has a solemn look, but we don’t think of her as sad. She’s thoughful. It took her awhile to feel better physically, but now she’s learning to play with a Cat Dancer. She’s even jumping up on the table to the top of the cupboard and down on her own!
